A comic about keeping super heroes in line!

The main characters are: Billy Butcher, Wee Hughie, Mother's Milk, The Frenchman and The Female. The main characters to begin with are Billy Butcher and Wee Hughie. Billy Butcher is the team leader who is more about kicking ass than controling his team (he leaves that up to Mother's Milk). Wee Hughie, whose likeness is based on Simon Pegg, is the guy you would most relate to. Wee Hughie is more "normal", not used to the super hero types. The others all have their own back stories but they are not explained in the first volume. The Frenchman and The Female are more for muscle in the team than anything else.

The whole story is about beating up or killing super heroes that get out of line and start to abuse their power. "The Boys" are there to dig up the dirt on the heroes do the beating. The Boys obviously have powers themselves to combat the heroes, such as super strength. The main plot is essentially the dark side of the hero world.

The artworld is very slick and the artist does a good job of making the characters more human than cartoon. The backgrounds switch between dark and light giving you a variation but for the most part the images are quite dark. There are parts where the comic becomes quite graphic, which the artist seems to be very good at doing.

The main attraction to this comic is that if you don't like super hero comics, you'll enjoy this. Even if you enjoy a super hero comic this would still be a good read for you. It's essentially a comic about super heroes that a more mature reader can enjoy.
